Impact: The Public Works Employment Verification Act requires all contractors and subcontractors on public works projects with the State of Pennsylvania to use E-Verify for all newly hired employees, effective January 1, 2013. A first violation will result in a written warning, a second violation will result in a 30 day bar from the contract, and the third violation will incur a 6 to 12 month bar from the contract. Willful violations may result in a bar of 3 years. Monetary damages may also be assigned.
